Community Media winning bids announced

We are delighted to report that we have appointed the following three organisations to work with us on the two Community Media programmes; Subculture and GM Through the Eyes of Older People.

 

Subculture

 

Two providers are delivering the subculture programme which aims to create media products with older people based on their niche interests, hobbies or experiences. These may not necessarily have a broad appeal but the project aims to connect people who share those interests to reduce social isolation.

 

  • The Broughton Trust: The Broughton Trust in partnership with Mary Burns Community Group, will be delivering the Subculture project across Salford, Manchester and Bolton with retired trade union members, older BAME people and disadvantaged groups. They will be holding a series of workshops across each borough to upskill and co-produce media in a number of ways.

 

  • Alchemy Arts: Alchemy Arts will be working with BAME community across Manchester, Bury and Oldham. They will be holding a series of workshops across each borough to upskill and co-produce media in a number of ways, specifically looking at the use of social media.

 

GM Through the Eyes of Older People

 

  • Yellow Jigsaw in partnership with Age UK Bolton, Age UK Bury, Age UK Manchester, Age UK Oldham, Age UK Salford, Age UK Tameside and Age UK Wigan Borough, will be delivering the Greater Manchester Through the Eyes of Older People project in all eight Ambition for Ageing districts (Bolton, Bury, Manchester Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Tameside and Wigan). Residents of those areas will be supported to explore the experiences of older people over the age of 50 who have previously experienced social isolation. A media campaign will be devised and distributed across the delivery areas to share those stories and share how social isolation can be reduced.
